A concrete mixer plant mainly consists of mixer, material weighing system, material conveying system, material storage system, control system and other subsidiary facilities.
According to the mixing way, mixers can be divided into forced mixers and gravity type mixers.
The material weighting system of a concrete mixer plant plays an important role in influencing the quality and production cost of concrete. This system mainly includes aggregate weighing, powder weighting and liquid weighing.
The material conveying system consists of aggregate conveying, powder conveying and liquid conveying. Aggregate conveying has two ways, hopper conveying and belt conveying. Hopper conveying requires small space and is simple in structure. Belt conveying features long conveying distance, high efficiency and low failure rate. It is mainly suitable for the concrete mixer plant that has temporary aggregate storehouse. The usable concrete powder is mainly cement, flyash and mineral powder. Powder conveying commonly adopts spiral conveyor. In large mixing plants, pneumatic conveying and scraper conveying are also adopted. The advantages of spiral conveying are simple structure, low cost and reliable operation.
The storage ways of concrete are basically the same. Aggregate is commonly stacked outdoors, while some large urban commercial concrete mixing plants adopt closed storage bin. Powder is stored in totally-enclosed steel structural silo. Admixtures are stored in steel structural container.
The control system is the central nervous system of the complete vehicle. According to different requirements of users and different sizes of the mixing plants, the control system has different functions and configurations. In general, the control system of small-sized mixing plants used in construction site is simpler, while the control system of large mixing plants is more complicated.
